Travel eSIM has no internet? Check these settings first
A practical checklist for installation errors, no signal, wrong data-line selection and an exhausted allowance, before deleting your eSIM.

A travel eSIM adds a data connection for your trip. It does not automatically replace your home number or give you a Japanese phone number. Before buying, check your exact iPhone model, its country of purchase and whether your carrier has unlocked it. Then compare the current Japan eSIM plans for your trip length.
Check compatibility with Apple and your home carrier rather than relying only on the model name. In Settings, open General and About to check the carrier-lock status. A locked phone needs its carrier's help before it can use another provider.
Have your order email, a reliable internet connection and access to the QR code ready. Keep that code private: it is the installation credential for your purchase. Read the activation instructions in the order before installing, because the event that starts validity is a plan condition.
Apple supports scanning the supplied QR code with the Camera app and following the setup prompts. On supported software, a QR code received in an email or browser can also offer an Add eSIM option when pressed and held. If that option is absent, display the code on another screen.
Complete the prompts without deleting your existing home line. Give the new line a recognisable label, such as Travel data, so that you can distinguish it later. Menu names and the setup sequence can differ by iOS version.
In Cellular settings, select the travel eSIM for mobile data when you are ready to use it. Check that line's roaming instructions in your order. Turning on roaming for a travel line is a separate choice from allowing roaming on the home line.
If you keep the home line active for calls or verification messages, check its overseas charges with your carrier. Consider turning off automatic cellular-data switching to keep control of the data line. A data eSIM cannot guarantee delivery of a bank's SMS code; that also depends on the home carrier and sender.
At the destination, turn Wi-Fi off briefly and open a small web page using mobile data. Keep the order email available until you know the connection works. A working data connection is the useful test for a data-only plan; making a normal phone call is not.
If there is no connection, use the eSIM troubleshooting checklist. Do not delete and reinstall the eSIM as the first fix; ask support whether your purchased profile can be installed again.
A low price is useful only when the allowance and validity suit your itinerary. Compare daily high-speed data with a total trip allowance, and check hotspot support if you need a laptop connection. Read the conditions of the exact plan rather than treating all eSIMs as interchangeable.

Device instructions were checked against Apple's eSIM setup guide and Apple's international travel guide. These describe device features; your shibaSIM order supplies the activation conditions for your purchased plan.
